Say goodbye to dear PageRank, Google revamps metrics

pagerank addio

In the coming days, Google will no longer allow users to see PageRank. The news comes directly from Big G at the microphones of Search Engine Land but we understand well the reasons for the drastic decision, which seems to mark the end of an era.

PageRank is an analysis algorithm, which has been used by Big G in recent years to measure the quality of a page or website. PR is also able to evaluate the effectiveness of SEO optimization work, in fact, indexing algorithms also use the page’s degree of popularity to define its position in search results. The purpose of PageRank is to assign a value from 1 to 10 to each element on a website, the value quantifies the relative importance of the element being analyzed.
The PageRank of a website or web page, can be viewed (for a short time yet) by installing the Google Toolbar in one’s browsing browser.

PageRank loses its role as an indicator of a website’s value

Why did Google decide not to make it more visible?

The main reason for this choice is that this value is no longer used as the main evaluation metric for websites, despite the fact that for many years it was considered as a key element for Google, as it had the ability to summarize in one value, the weight of an entire website. Google has come to the conclusion that a single parameter is no longer enough to evaluate websites, but a series of parameters. The set of these data will allow to facilitate or not the positioning of the site in SERPs. PageRank has lost its value within Google’s algorithms, algorithms whose evolution has always been geared toward more and more complex parameters.
This does not mean that it will no longer be taken into account, but it will no longer have the same incidence within the algorithm, which is why it will no longer be visible therefore to users and insiders.
