Twitter represents a dynamic and “instant” Social, mainly used in the professional field because it is simple and direct.
Publishers, developers and brands around the world are trying to make their tweets more and more appealing through images, videos, previews and various content. However, being able to set trends lately has turned out to be a key element in being able to handle social in the best possible way, and Top Trendings are no longer enough.
Probably with this in mind, Twitter has decided to go after those who do business with social and enter the market by launching Analytics for Twitter Cards. What is Twitter Cards? It is a Twitter feature that serves to add multimedia by enriching the content shared through expanded tweets directly in the timeline. Analytics for Twitter Cards will be able to monitor profile tweet traffic and user interaction.
Tweet activity, followers and websites
The introduction of Analytics for Twitter Cards allows users to understand in detail how interaction is taking place between users, through the tweets they post, and to monitor account traffic through statistics on the activities of followers and their own statuses. In this way, the dashboard will display:
- Url clicks;
- retweet;
- Quotes from users.
A snapshot on Tweet Activity, then, will indicate the actual activity of the profile by showing how many tweet-links to the site have been, how many impressions it has received, and how many clicks.
What’s more, it will be possible to select a precise time interval, either by moving the slider on the timeline or including start and end date, to see in detail the traffic movements and interactions, either at a specific time or of a specific tweet. Eventually, a list will be generated on the overview of the entire profile summarizing what is successful and what is not.
The additional information to the Tweet Activity that we will be able to have access to will relate specifically to:
- Followers. Data on visitor interests, location and genre of the medium will be extracted, providing a comprehensive view for one’s web marketing strategy;
- Website. Monitor the progress of links related to a chosen domain; simply enter the code provided by Twitter into your site and wait for validation, after which you can access the general dashboard with a view of tweets with links to your site and total clicks; you can click on the link statistics to view the main data for a particular URL.
The effectiveness of Twitter’s new tool has been tested in close collaboration with the likes of BuzzFeed, NBC News, Time Inc., ESPN, MLB, Flipboard, Etsy, Foursquare and Path.
Twitter and Facebook: the analysis of posts
In truth, in America this “extension” of the service has been available since June 2013, but it has been spreading recently after an official tutorial was published on Twitter’s Developer Blog explaining the various steps. However, actual access to the tool is likely to happen these days, and if it works well, the service could become one more resource for monitoring the large Twitter mesh, providing a more informative, engaging, and monetizable experience. Hot on the heels of Google’s Analytics, Facebook had also introduced Insights in recent months to allow users to get a general overview of their posts, specifying: Likes, traffic reach, visits and users (movements and location) for each individual post as well. This made it possible to predict the reach of photos, articles, and whatnot, enabling thoughtful and reasoned choices on subsequent posts. Twitter, following in the footsteps of its main rival, Facebook, decided to invest in order to come to business, gaining a significant portion of the market in online advertising, now considered one of the main stepping stones for marketing strategies. For now, Twitter has introduced this new feature exclusively for the Twitter Cards section … who knows if it will be able to “expand” it for the entire service.
We just have to wait for the official “landing” in Italy as well so that we can finally “Analyze” our daily hard work.
