Let’s get to know each other better… Interview with Paolo Conti Art Director of Tun2U

Interview with the Digital Art Director of our agency

Name: Paolo Conti Age: 33 Distinguishing features: herbal tea addict!

When was your passion for graphic design born and how have you cultivated it over the years?

I have always been fascinated by it, cultivated it through practice and self-taught study. I found my way and with it my deep passion in 2000 in a small company near north Rome, we were a group of guys fascinated by the still immature world of the web. After various experiences in other companies as Graphic Designer and later as Art Director I decided in 2007 to take the freelance route, collaborating with some prestigious agencies, during this period I met very capable professionals in the field and I had the opportunity to improve myself in various disciplines of visual communication, including Video Editing /Motion Graphic and especially in UI/UX, two fundamental elements to become a good Digital Art Director. At the end of 2015 I decided to take my experience to a more structured and expanding reality… Here I am in Tun2U!

How do you plan the implementation of your graphic designs?

More or less like a tailor would plan them… eh yes in the end what I make for the client is nothing more than a tailor-made suit but with a few more compatibility issues 🙂
Each client operates in a different field and therefore it is necessary to understand the issues of that field, documenting quickly and also creating when possible a small Benchmark. Only after I understand the job in its entirety, I start to create a wireframe of the structure (for the tailor it would be the sketch), then I create the color palette and only at the end I open Photoshop and start to make a draft of the graphical interface, after the feedback from the front-end dev. side I proceed with the executive…Here is the dress!

How binding is the front-end dev. in layout design?

Fundamental!!! Many graphic and ux choices are yes chosen by me but only because of constant front-end dev side feasibility support.

Your most beautiful project?

I have yet to realize it but if I had to name one, I would say Haliante.it

The most complex project?

All those where the customer tends to rely little.

What do you like to do outside of work to stay up to date with the latest news in your industry?

I always carve out time to read up on the latest news and usually do so by reading magazines or following industry blogs, although I also don’t disdain peeking at the latest work of Top Agencies.

How would you define your work in 3 words?

Unique, Creative, Modern
